Oregon Salmon Fishing

Chinook (King) Salmon (April-Mid May) - Coho (Silver) Salmon (July-September)

Oregon Salmon Fishing

If you are looking for a real Oregon salmon fishing experience with steady action and the rush of fighting strong fish, this charter is a great choice. It is perfect for anglers who want more than just a laid-back trip; it is about getting out there and fully experiencing one of the best fisheries on the West Coast, where exhilaration and opportunity go hand in hand.

Newport, Oregon, is known as one of the premier salmon-fishing ports on the Pacific Coast. Its location and ocean conditions make it a hotspot for catching both Chinook (King) and Coho (Silver) salmon. These fish are not just fun to catch, with strong runs, deep dives, and lots of fight, but they also taste amazing. Fresh ocean-caught salmon from this area is considered some of the best seafood you can get anywhere.

Every charter is carefully planned to give you the best shot at catching fish. Before we even start fishing, we look at things like the weather, ocean conditions, tides, and what bait will work best. All of this affects how the fish behave, so getting it right makes a big difference. The goal is to find active areas where healthy, mature fish are feeding. When everything lines up and the fish are biting, it is pretty common to hook into multiple fish in one trip, often strong, hard-hitting salmon that take some skill to reel in.

These charters are great for anglers of all kinds. If you are new to ocean fishing, you will gain hands-on techniques, how to use the gear, and how to fight fish with help from an experienced guide. If you have fished before, you will enjoy the steady action and the chance to catch some quality fish. Either way, it is a fun, fast-paced experience in a fishery that is known for producing results.

Seasonal regulations are an important part of the fishery and are closely followed to help protect the fish for the future. From June through August, you can only keep hatchery Coho salmon. These fish are easily identified by their clipped adipose fin, which is the small fin near the tail. During this time, all wild Coho (with the fin still intact) and all Chinook salmon must be safely released back into the water.

When the season moves into September, the regulations become more flexible. Anglers can keep up to two salmon per day, and one of those can be a Chinook (King) salmon. This gives you a chance to catch and take home one of the most popular salmon species while still maintaining responsible harvest limits.

Overall, this charter offers an exciting, well-rounded ocean-fishing experience. With expert planning, great fishing spots, and the chance to battle some strong, great-tasting fish, it is a thrilling day out on the water.

Salmon Fishing Gear

Salmon Fishing Gear

Your fishing charter is fully outfitted with top-tier salmon fishing gear and tackle, so you have everything you need for a fun and successful day on the water. As soon as you get on the boat, you will be equipped with high-quality rods and reels made specifically for ocean salmon fishing. They are strong, sensitive, and built to last. Along with pro-level tackle, this gear is made to handle big hits and powerful fish, so you can focus on reeling them in instead of worrying about your equipment.

The boat is set up specifically for serious fishing and has everything needed to get the job done right. It is equipped with two downriggers, which are an important tool for fishing at the exact depths where fish are hanging out. Since salmon usually stay in deeper, cooler water, downriggers help get the bait and lures right in front of them. This makes it much easier to catch fish and keeps the action going, even when they are not near the surface.

All the gear on the boat is selected for reliability and performance when needed. The rods are sensitive enough to feel even small bites, but strong enough to handle big, aggressive fish. The reels are smooth and reliable, so they can handle long runs without issues. Everything from the leaders and lures to the bait setups is pro-level and well-maintained, giving you the best chance to hook and land fish.

Not only are you fishing in one of the premier salmon fisheries on the West Coast, but you are also using gear that meets pro-level standards. With high-quality equipment, a well-planned setup, and a great location, it is an experience where amateurs and experienced anglers can feel confident, catch more fish, and really enjoy the excitement of ocean fishing.

Salmon Fishing Charters

On our Oregon salmon fishing charters, you will usually head about 5 to 15 miles offshore to find the best fishing spots for that day. The distance can change depending on where the fish are feeding and moving. Things like water temperature, bait in the area, ocean currents, and recent fishing reports all help decide where we go. The main goal is simple: get you right on the fish instead of wasting time in spots where nothing is happening.

Each outing begins right at daylight, giving you a great head start during one of the best times to fish. Early mornings are usually ideal for salmon fishing because the water is calmer, the temperatures are cooler, and the fish are more active. Heading out at first light means you get more time on the water and a better shot at catching fish before things get busier, and conditions start to change.

The ride out to the fishing spot is meant to be steady and efficient. It usually takes about 20 to 40 minutes, depending on how far out the fish are and what the ocean conditions are like. On calm days, it is a quick and easy ride. If the fish are farther out or the water is a bit rough, it might take a little longer. Either way, we make sure the trip is safe and steady so you can spend more time fishing and less time getting there.

By heading out early, adjusting how far we go, and keeping the ride quick, these charters are set up to give you more time where the fish are actually biting. That means a better chance at catching quality salmon out in the ocean.
